The DFBC Brotherhood met on Sunday, July 11 at 8:00 am in the Fellowship Center. After our breakfast and prayer requests, the membership discussed old business and new business items. The membership voted to continue to allocate $100.00 per person to help defer the costs of each of our individual church members who are participating in upcoming mission trips. The membership had previously earmarked $500.00 to assist with the upcoming mission trip to the North Carolina coast planned for July 18. Please continue to pray for our missionaries and their work. The membership also voted to make a monetary donation or $1000.00 toward the roofing project for the sanctuary.
The membership also discussed upcoming projects. There will be a cookout on a Sunday in August after the services. This will probably be on August 8th or 15th. Donations will be requested and the entire amount raised will be placed in the roofing fund. A workday evening was scheduled for July 13 at 6:00 pm. Members will meet at the church for some projects on the church grounds as well as assisting Mr. And Mrs. Patterson with some yard work.
The tentative date for our traditional fall Porta-Pit BBQ Chicken fundraiser lunch is Saturday, October 16. There will be 440 chicken plates available for purchase. Tickets will be available soon. Dine-in or take out will be available with plates selling for $8.00 each. Ladies of the church will be asked to help with dessert items for this event.
Our next Brotherhood Golf Fellowship will be held in the fall. The location will more than likely be at Stone Mountain Golf Course. A definite date and site for the golf fellowship will be announced well in advance. The fee will be $40.00 per person. These fundraisers will allow the Brotherhood to continue to provide financial support for local mission work. Please let us know if you are aware of a local mission project that the Brotherhood can assist with.
In other Brotherhood news, the membership nominated Tom Hemmings to serve as the Brotherhood director and Rob Thomas as the assistant director for the coming year.
The next meeting will be held on October 11, 2010 @ 8:00. Jerry Weaver and Rex Mitchell will provide breakfast for this meeting. Please mark your calendars and plan to attend and bring a friend.
